BEND, Ore. - James R. "Jim" Ferguson of Bend, Ore., formerly Iron River, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, from complications caused by lifelong diabetes.
He was born on Feb. 25, 1935, in Escanaba, the son of James W. and Cecile (Richards) Ferguson. On Oct. 11, 1958, he married Linda Lou Polazzo. She preceded him in death on April 27, 1984. He married Barbara Harris on May 20, 1985, and she survives.
Jim taught mathematics in the West Iron County school district for over 30 years, retiring in 1992. He had a love for math, which he enthusiastically shared with all of his students. He truly enjoyed and genuinely cared for the many students that he taught throughout the years. "Fergy" was considered a favorite teacher by many.

Jim was a lifelong "Packer Backer" who was very proud of his share of Packer stock. He was an avid reader, who also enjoyed playing golf and going on family camping trips. In recent years, Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren, Violet and William, who both adored him and knew him as their "Pa."
Most importantly, Jim Ferguson was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his loving wife of 27 years, Barbara; survivors include his children, Terri (Don) Conde of Milan, Mich., Jim Ferguson of Spring Lake, Mich., David (Julie) Ferguson of Mt. Pleasant, Mich. and Robyn (Jason) Harmon of Bend, Ore.; four grandchildren, Jimmy, Rhylynd, Violet and William; brothers, Bob Ferguson of Portage, Mich. and Tom (Kay) Ferguson of Battle Creek, Mich.; sister, Jeanne (Terry) Gilbert of Valparaiso, Ind.; aunt, Duddy Richards of Escanaba; daughter-in-law, Kathy Ferguson of Holland, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
