ESCANABA - An Escanaba man remains lodged in Delta County Jail on charges related to a two-vehicle crash that injured two persons earlier this week in Escanaba.

Joshua James Johnson, 31, of 310 S. 8th St., Escanaba, was arrested Monday following a personal injury accident on U.S. 2 & 41/M-35 near Bay College on Monday afternoon.

During his arraignment in Delta County District Court on Tuesday, Johnson was officially charged with driving a motor vehicle on a suspended license causing serious impairment, a five-year felony with a maximum fine of $5,000. He was also charged with driving without insurance which is a civil infraction.

Johnson's preliminary examination began Thursday in district court and will continue at a later date pending medical results.

According to Escanaba Public Safety, Johnson's northbound P.T. Cruiser left the road, drove into the center median, went airborne, and collided into the driver's side of a Jeep at a highway cut-across shortly after 1 p.m.

The driver of the Jeep, Mark Sundquist, 54, of Perronville, and a passenger, Karleigh Sundquist, 18, were transported by ambulance to OSF St. Francis Hospital where they were treated for injuries and later released.
