GLADSTONE - Gladstone Area School District plans to seek a renewal of 18 operating mills which was defeated by voters earlier this month, according to the superintendent.
Jay Kulbertis said this morning that the non-homestead property tax is essential to the district and generates more than $1 million for operating purposes.
He anticipates the issue will be brought before voters again in February. The tax does not apply to homestead properties including principal residences, noted Kulbertis.
Voters defeated a nine-year 18-mill renewal on Nov. 6 by a vote of 2,652 against and 1,846 for the proposal.
