Great job on the Fourth of July

July 14, 2012
Daily Press

This week's bouquets go to:

From Frances Michaels of Escanaba:

"What a privilege and a delight to enjoy the Independence Day festivities held right here in our beautiful Ludington Park. Games for the children, the food vendors, the swimming beach, the flags, the Escanaba City Band, and the fabulous fireworks all contributed to the wonderful celebration.

"Now that its over we should take a moment to think about the behind the scenes effort that so many people put forth to make our small town celebration one that rivals the big cities. A big thank you to everyone involved from the planning to the clean up. Its just another reason why Escanaba is such a great place to live."

From Sheila Ness of Escanaba:

"I wanted to thank the city of Escanaba and the personnel it took to put on such a wonderful fireworks display Thursday night. I stayed at home, but ended up sitting in front of my window in a chair. I had a tree blocking half of the show, and thought to move to another area when you smiled at me. Thank you for that smiley. I actually slapped my knee and guffawed!

When I was younger, you gave me chrysanthemums, tonight you gave me passion flowers. The spirals, daisies, and the peace sign were actual wonders. Thank you for the wonderful show."

From the parents and staff at Lemmer Elementary School in Escanaba:

"We would like to extend a great big thank you to the volunteers from New Life Assembly of God. On June 23, 2012, as part of their Love in Action day, volunteers helped paint two classrooms along with numerous bookcases. Their efforts were truly appreciated in helping provide a much brighter and welcoming classroom for students this fall."
