ESCANABA - Renee VanDrese and Casey Sovey were united in Holy Matrimony on April 28 during a noon ceremony at St. Joseph/St. Patrick Parish in Escanaba. The nuptials were officiated by Rev. Eric Olson.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in honor of the newlyweds at the Terrace Bay Inn.
Michelle VanDrese, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor, while Ashley Johnson, friend of the bride served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Stacie, sister-in-law of the bride, Mari Schomburg, sister of the groom, Traci Busick, a friend of the bride, Sarah Chouinard, cousin-in-law of the groom, and Katie Carignan, cousin-in-law of the bride.

Standing as best man was Jon Sovey, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were, Andy Sovey, brother of the groom, Chris VanDrese, brother of the bride, Steve Sovey, brother of the groom, Paul Carignan and Bill Carignan, both cousins of the bride, and John Chouinard, cousin of the groom.
Seating the wedding guests were Steve Daigneau, cousin of the bride and J.D. Mikkelson, nephew of the groom. Flower girls were Jocelyne VanDrese, niece of the bride and Haven and Brook Schomburg, both nieces of the groom. Ring Bearer was Landen Daigneau, cousin of the bride.
The daughter of Gary and Mary VanDrese of Gladstone, Renee received her bachelor of art and design with a focus in Fiber and fashion in 2008.
Casey is the son of Pat and Cherese Sovey of Gladstone. He earned an associate's degree in C.A.D. in 2004 and is employed at Stewart Manufacturing in Hermansville.
