James Grenier

ESCANABA — James Grenier, 81, of Escanaba, passed away Friday evening, December 5, 2025 at Christian Park Village.

James was born in Escanaba on November 24, 1944, son of Raymond and Josephine Marie (Gardner) Grenier. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 1963. After high school, Jim joined the National Guard.

James worked as a supervisor for Briggs and Stratton in Milwaukee until his retirement in 1995. During that time, he also was an active volunteer for the fire and rescue squad in New Berlin, WI.

James moved away from the city after his retirement to enjoy a quiet life in McFarland, MI. He enjoyed playing the slots at the Island Resort and Casino.

Among survivors include his sisters, Shirley (Jim) Tobatto, Patricia (Ken) Gartland, Beverly (Bill) Nault, and Janet (Dale) Bintner; along with many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his brother, Francis “Bucky” Grenier; and nephew, Ken Brkopac.

In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held.
