GLADSTONE — David Allen Sinnaeve, 78 of Gladstone, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at his home.
Dave (known as “Chief” to his friends) was born on January 27, 1947, in Escanaba, to Angeline and Julimer Sinnaeve. He worked as a pipefitter for the Plumber and Pipefitters Union Local 506 in Escanaba. He was also a proud Army veteran, serving his country right out of high school.
Dave had many interests and hobbies that included riding motorcycles with the U.P. Chiefs, where he served as the club president. He also enjoyed playing pool. Dave loved the outdoors, and especially loved camping, hunting and cutting wood. He was an avid fan of TV6’s outdoor U.P. show, “Discovering”, and in his later years enjoyed watching nature in his backyard from his captain’s chair in the kitchen. He particularly loved the hummingbirds that would come to visit his feeder.
Dave was also a very generous soul, making many donations to numerous charities that spoke to his heart, including St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and many veteran causes. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his children, grandchild, sister, brother, and beloved dog, Butter.
Dave is survived by two sons, Troy (Cynna) Sinnaeve, and Mike Sinnaeve (girlfriend Kristi Nelson); sister Eileen Phillips; brother Duane Sinnaeve; grandson Carter Sinnaeve; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Angeline and Julimer Sinnaeve; sisters Dolores and Mary; and brothers Gilbert and Jim.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military honors will conclude visitation at 3 PM.
