Patrick G. ‘Butchie’ ‘Nono’ Nault

HUDSON, Fla. — Patrick G. “Butchie” “Nono” Nault, age 70, long time Ishpeming, Kalamazoo, Gladstone, and Hudson, Fla. resident, passed away on Saturday July 15, 2023 at his home in Hudson, while in the loving care of his family, and Gulfside Hospice.

Patrick was born in Ishpeming on November 25, 1952, son of the late Patrick L. and Arlene M. (Comensoli) Nault. He grew up in Ishpeming and graduated from Ishpeming High School with the class of 1971. Following graduation he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on November 29, 1974. Pat’s military service was extremely important to him, and he was a proud veteran. After returning from the military he worked at Cliffs Tilden Mine and he had several other jobs in the trades before retiring from Otis Elevator in 2005. He also proudly held his builders license and was extremely skilled and talented, always lending a helping hand to all. He was a mentor and a teacher to so many throughout his jobs and life.

Patick was a member of the Ishpeming Township Fire Department, the American Legion Post 49 of South Haven, Mich., and the International Union of Elevator Workers. He loved spending his summers in Escanaba with his family and friends, where he was a fixture at O.B. Fuller Campground.  He proudly served as park host for 12 years. Pat also loved wintering with his Partner in Life, “Yo” at their Hudson, Fla. home. Pat will be remembered as a people person, never having met a stranger. He loved laughing, making people laugh, was the best storyteller, and loved to eat and cook Italian food. Pat was proud and honored to have received the TV6 Upsider Award in 2022 for his service as host at O.B. Fuller Campground.

Patrick is survived by his daughter, Stacy (Michael) Sands; partner in life, Yolanda “Yo” Marzo; siblings, Mary Jo (Roger) Mikkola, Greg (Jean Drier) Nault, Robert (Teresa Crocker) Nault, Michelle (Jordan) Bosque; five step-siblings; grandchildren, Sydney and Ben Sands; Yo’s children, Jon (Melissa) Gay and William Gay, James and Kathryn Lockwood; Yo’s grandchildren, Kylie, Jade, Jake, Jager, Hunter and Danielle; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joey, sisters Patlene and Cheryl, step-mom and Yo’s grandson Leo Garcia.

Patrick’s family will greet relatives and friends from 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday the 27th of July at St. Paul Catholic Church in Negaunee. A Memorial Mass will be held at noon with Fr. Larry Van Damme celebrating. Interment will follow at the Ishpeming Cemetery with Military Honors being accorded by the UP Honor Team. Following the burial there will be a luncheon and celebration held at the St. Paul’s Church Gymnasium.
