Lawrence ‘Bud’ W. Casey

WELLS — Lawrence “Bud” W. Casey, age 91, of Wells, passed away Friday afternoon, May 26, 2023 at his home. He was born July 31, 1931 in Escanaba, the son of Walter and Agnes (Micheau) Casey. Bud was raised and attended school in Escanaba and went on to serve in the U.S. Army National Guard for many years. On June 23, 1956, Bud married the former Marlene J. Anderson at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Wells. The couple shared their special day with William and Joanne Berro, celebrating a double wedding. He was employed by Harnischfeger Corporation for 27 years before taking a position with Valmet. He commuted to Appleton from 1985 until 1987 weekly working for Valmet and eventually moved the family to Appleton, Wis. in 1987. He retired and moved back to Escanaba in 1991 and later settled in Wells in 1995. Bud was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba. He enjoyed everything about the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Bud’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends.

Bud is survived by his daughter, Cindy (Glenn) Wangerin of Escanaba; son, Scott Casey of Wells; grandchildren, Mellissa, Angie, Ashley, Abby, and Stevie Lynn; great-grandchildren, Case and Haley; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Casey on October 9, 2014; brother, Walter Casey; and sister, Joanne Berro.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1,3 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Bud will follow at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Timothy Ferguson officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services in the Anderson Funeral Home Reception Room. Military Honors and graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
