Daniel ‘Dan’ Mark Chouinard

RIVERLAND — Daniel “Dan” Mark Chouinard, of Riverland, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis., at the age of 60. He was born on February 22, 1962 in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Larry and Darlene (Perrow) Chouinard. Dan was raised in Flat Rock and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1980, where he was a proud member of the wrestling team. Following graduation, Dan worked for EL&S Railroad for a year, then spent five years with his uncle, Gary Chouinard, learning the trade of the flooring and installation business. Dan soon broke off and ran his own flooring installation company, through which he worked with many businesses in the area. In the spring of 1982, Dan built his first home in Riverland, a three-story barn style house, where he lived until he finished building his second house with a view of the river, across the road from his first. He married the former Brenda L. Anderson on October 16, 1982 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. Together, the couple shared 40 years of marriage and raised six children.

Dan had a passion for wrestling and helped to organize, lead, and coach the Escanaba Youth Wrestling Club for many years. Alongside his family, he enjoyed everything about the outdoors, especially hunting fishing, and camping. He looked forward to hunting season each year at the family camp in Cornell. In his earlier years, Dan and his father were beekeepers. Together, they raised and collected honey from over a hundred beehives. Above all, family meant everything to Dan, and he loved all the gatherings they shared.

Dan will be greatly missed by his wife, Brenda Chouinard of Riverland; their children, Mark (Jessica) Chouinard of Riverland, Richard (Emily) Chouinard of Green Bay, Wis., Matthew (Marci) Chouinard of Gladstone, Kyle Chouinard of Plover, Wis., Nicole (Alex) Kempsell of Chicago, Ill., and Simon (Grace) Chouinard of Escanaba; their grandchildren, Amelia, Jonah, Hope, Ethan, Vince, Henry, Blakely, Everly, Oliver, and Lincoln; his siblings, Joseph (Sandy Bush) Chouinard of Holland, Mich., Steve Chouinard of Gladstone, Ronald (Jodi) Chouinard of Escanaba, Donald (Julie) Chouinard of Gladstone, Debbie (Rodney) Sturdy of Gladstone, Todd (Julie) Chouinard of Gladstone, Mike (Jessie) Chouinard of Gladstone, Nick (Wendy) Chouinard of Gladstone, Alicia (John) Collegnon of Green Bay, Wis.; his father-in-law Richard Chouinard; his in-laws, Kim (Tim) Carlson of Escanaba, Gail (Jay) Anderson of Green Bay, Wis.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
