Milton F. ‘Milt’ Brinkman

ESCANABA — Milton F. “Milt” Brinkman, 82, of Escanaba, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

He was born in Lake Linden on February 14, 1940, the son of Edward and Frances (LaMuth) Brinkman. Milt graduated from Lake Linden High School in 1958. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1960. Milt went on to attend Northern Michigan University, earning his masters in accounting and education.

On July 16, 1980, Milt married the former Gale Bauer in Escanaba. Together they shared 41 years of marriage.

Milt worked as an instructor at Bay College for over 30 years until his retirement. He was very passionate about education and loved seeing his students succeed. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Gale of Escanaba; son, Michael (Marshonnie) Brinkman of Hudson, Mich.; daughter, Megan (Sean Kirkpatrick) Brinkman of Ishpeming; grandchildren, Crew and Millie Kirkpatrick; brothers, Frank (Karen) Brinkman and Tony (Maureen) Brinkman; father-in-law, Richard Bauer; and several other in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Milt was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ed Brinkman.

In keeping with his wishes, no services will be held.

Memorials in Milt’s name can be made to the Bay College Foundation, OSF Serenity Gardens, or the Friends of the Escanaba Public Library.
