Lester C. Kamin

ESCANABA — Lester C. Kamin, age 93, of Escanaba (Riverland area), passed away Friday afternoon, November 26, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born on August 20, 1928 in Marinette, Wis., the son of Carl and Bertha (Pruden) Kamin. On April 19, 1952, he married the former Eleanor Steer at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Pound, Wis. and she preceded him in death on July 27, 2020. Lester was a member of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Escanaba. He was employed by Harnischfeger Corporation for over 30 years until the factory closed. He then worked construction until his retirement in 1990. Lester was a pitcher for the P&H baseball team in his younger years and was a member of the Wednesday Senior Bowling League for many years. He loved camping and fishing with his family. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and baseball. Lester also attended his grandchildren’s sporting events and he enjoyed giving them advice.

Lester C. Kamin is survived by: one daughter, Donna (Gary) Carlson; three sons, Kenneth (Cheryl) Kamin, Keith (Cindy) Kamin, and Rodney (Michele) Kamin all of Riverland area; three granddaughters, Carrie (Nathan Shiverski) Kamin of Perronville, Angela (Curt) Groleau of Texas, and Nicole Kamin of Escanaba; six grandsons, Eric (Ruth) Carlson of Bark River, Ryan (Marcie Blickham) Kamin of Wilson, Brad (Jen) Kamin of Grand Rapids, Mich., Michael (Rikkie) Kamin of Ariz., Derek (Abbey) Kamin of Minn., and Craig Kamin of Escanaba; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Miranda Groleau, and Brielle and Emilia Kamin; two sisters, Dorothy Nolde and Betty Bret of Menominee; one sister-in-law, Delores Steer; and many nieces and nephews.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 615 South 30th St, Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lester will follow at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, with Rev. Mark Hannemann officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the funeral services.
