GLADSTONE, Mich. — Wayne S. Lancour, age 82 of Gladstone, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

Wayne was born June 11, 1939, in Gladstone, the son of William and Eva (LaLande) Lancour, 1 of 17 children. He graduated from the class of 1957 from Rapid River High School. He served with honor in the United States Air Force for 12 years, including a tour in Vietnam.

Wayne was united in marriage to Carol Hendrickson on March 25, 1961, in the All Saints Catholic Church. He was a longtime volunteer coach for Gladstone Girls Basketball, Track and Little League baseball, which he helped establish in the Gladstone area in the early ’70s.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved in ministry in the All Saints Church. Wayne also was a Reading Buddy with the Cameron School. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

In addition to his loving wife, Carol, Wayne is survived by daughter, Mary (Jeff) Larson of Chesapeake, Va.; two sons, Greg (Diane) Lancour of Atlanta, Ga., Gary (Barb) Lancour of Hoosick Falls, Ny.; two sisters, Lurene Pepin of Escanaba, Rita (Elmer) Aho of Gwinn; brother, Tom (Betsy) Lancour of Escanaba; five grandchildren, Brandon Larson, Mandy Lancour, Michael Lancour, John Lancour and Samantha Lancour; one great-grandchild, Carter Lancour; brothers-in-law, Bill (Nancy) Hendrickson and Phil Dubord; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by siblings, William, Ronald, Norman, Keith, Dale, Floyd, Phylis, Leola, Lela, Theresa, Judy, Wanda, and Yvonne.

UPDATE: Due to COVID-19, visitation is for private family only. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2021, at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. Wayne will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints Church Ministry.
