Margaret Elaine Piatti

Margaret was born December 30, 1929 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Joseph and Irene (Hannas) Draxler. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1948. Margaret married Edward Piatti on September 2,1950 at St. Mary’s and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. The couple enjoyed over 70 years of marriage.

Margaret loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed walking, and traveling in her free time. She was a volunteer with the VA Medical Center for over 20 years, and firmly believed in giving back to her community. Margaret was a member of American Martyrs Church and loved her church family as her own.

Margaret is survived by her husband, Edward Piatti; two daughters, Sharon Piatti of Kingsford, Mich. and Pamela (Joseph) Patrick of Wells, Mich.; two sons, Edward (LuAnn ) Piatti of Florence, Ariz, and Richard (Sherry) Piatti of De Pere, Wis.; one brother, James (Beverly) Draxler of Fond du Lac, Wis.; one sister, Rita Gray of Ishpeming; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Patrick and one brother, Joseph Draxler.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 1 at 11 a.m. at American martyrs church in Kingsford. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Joseph Gouin. Burial will take place in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Martyr’s Church in Kingsford, MI.
