Beanie was born on January 27, 1930 in Garden, the son of Oscar and Vida (Hines) Lund. He attended school in Cooks, and was of Catholic faith. As a young man he joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. He met his bride to be, Caroll Pasino, and they were married on May 9, 1951, in Cheyanne, Wy, and they had 55 wonderful years together. Caroll preceded Beanie in death on January 27, 2015.

Beanie served his community as well, as a school board member of both the Cooks School, and the Big Bay de Noc School. He also served on the Schoolcraft County Road Commission, and was a member of the Manistique Gun club, and VFW Post 4420. He was employed as a mechanic for most of his life, but did several other odd jobs as well. In his younger years he was an avid baseball and basketball player. He enjoyed eating a good meal, hunting fishing, and gardening. Most of all Beanie enjoyed being with his family and all of his grandkids!
