Howard Roy Crothers, Jr.

ESCANABA — Howard Roy Crothers, Jr., age 72, of Escanaba, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 3, 1948, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Howard R. and Elnora (Hutchinson) Crothers, Sr. Roy was raised in the Chicago area and was a 1966 graduate of Senn High School. Following graduation, Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country until he was honorably discharged. He sailed for many years on the Great Lakes with the Inland Steel Company and later sailed on salt water ships. His last 15 years of his working career Roy was employed with Finkl and Sons Steel in Chicago. In 2015, he relocated to Escanaba for the peace and tranquility the Upper Peninsula had to offer. While residing in Escanaba, Roy made many friends in the area and created lasting memories.

Howard Roy Crothers, Jr. is survived by eight siblings, Judy Healy of Palos Hills, Ill., Paul (Eileen) Crothers of Pulaski, Wis., Paula Lilleheil of Baraboo, WI, Keith (Liz) Crothers of Palatine, IL, Ruth (Jerry) Schultz of McFarland, WI, Christie Brinkley of Biloxi, MS, Nancy Crothers of Berwyn, Ill., and Tim Crothers of Berwyn, Ill.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Brad Crothers.
