Nancy Rolig Todd

MARQUETTE, Mich. — Nancy Rolig Todd, age 63, of Marquette, entered eternal life Monday, October 26, 2020, at home, in the loving, comforting care of her family. Born June 26, 1957, in Erie, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Donald and Nancy (Yost) Hillegas, Nancy was raised in Escanaba. She graduated from the Escanaba Area High School, Class of 1976, and then moved to Marquette where she married and began raising a family. Throughout the years, she was employed with local area businesses. At home, she was a loving mother to her two children who enjoyed baking, especially her famous chocolate chip cookies, loved her garden, beautiful flowers and wild birds. She excelled at entertaining, celebrating and adding that ‚ “Fancy Nancy‚” touch to any space, including her wardrobe. She loved her home and had a special knack for interior decorating. Not a large person in size, she made up for it in her ability to lead a crowd which started back in her cheerleading days and continued on through her life, whether it be leading a group icebreaker, being the first one to excitedly shout out ‚¨ “Woo-hoo!‚¨ “! in a spinning class, or initiating a special prayer or toast at a family celebration. Known for bringing the ‚“fun‚¨ “! to the party she could be counted on for bringing festive accessories like glow bracelets, 4th of July necklaces, birthday crowns, or balloons. She had the precious gift of being a good listener and also a great conversationalist. Which made her not only a good friend to those who knew her well, but even strangers would feel comfortable sharing their life story with her. Nancy was a thoughtful gift giver and had a way of making people feel special and loved, like this spring when she sent out cards filled with cut out ‚¨hearts of hope‚¨ “! to some of her friends. And, when the grandkids arrived she cherished the opportunity to spend as much time in their lives as possible. From ‚¨ “Nanny‚¨ playing with Lincoln and Bennet to getting to bond with her newest grandson Harrison at just six days old. Health and fitness were lifelong passions and Nancy enjoyed group fitness classes and personal training. Walks in the woods with her family, and beloved dog Luna, and biking along the bike paths to the beach were among some of her favorite outdoor activities. She especially enjoyed traveling, with annual trips to Mackinac Island and tropical destinations. Nancy was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and active in many committees. Above all, Nancy touched countless lives with her loving kindness for others and family was her number one priority. Her energy, smile and presence will be greatly missed by many. Her legacy serves as a reminder to live life to the fullest. Nancy is survived by her husband, Jim Todd of Marquette; daughter, Kristen (Doug) Gordon of Marquette; son, Casey (Molly) Rolig of Sonoma, CA; her grandchildren, Lincoln and Bennett Gordon, and Harrison Rolig; her father, Don Hillegas of Marquette; her mother-in-law, Pets Todd of Marquette; a sister-in-law, Karin Hillegas of Louisville, CO; nieces and nephews, Brody, Bergen, and Ben Hillegas; and her children‚¨ “!s father, Les (Deb) Rolig of Marquette. Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Nancy Hillegas and her brother, Terry Hillegas.
