ESCANABA — It’s 2020 and there are 7.8 billion stories unfolding across planet earth. Each story is a book of someone’s life, and each day a page is turned. Some books are very long, others are short, and some may never be opened. Every day, new books are added to this great library of life, and each day some are removed from the shelves forever. Although each book is unique in its own way, none are more important or valuable than any other. One of these many books belongs to you, and you’re writing it as you live. Even though this is your book, you do not yet know how it will end. When the last page of your book is turned over and read, it will join billions of others that have been permanently removed from the library shelves. When the last page of your book is turned, it will be placed in an archive of care by a legion of librarians. This great hall of records belongs to the builder of the library who reads each book before filing it away. So, try to write a good story — one that’s worthy of reading. Today, the book of our mother’s life will be read, and we think her story will be greatly enjoyed. Margaret Helen Hosking (Laplander) just turned 94. She was born June 8, 1926. She was a great mother and wife. May she rest easy in the arms of the Lord until our own books are joined with hers.
