Marie E. Zeno

ESCANABA — Marie E. Zeno, 88, of Escanaba, Mich., passed away Friday evening, Jan. 31, 2020, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born on March 27, 1931, in Munising, Mich., the daughter of Carl and Edith (Horngren) Zeno. Marie was raised in Chatham and was a 1949 graduate of Eben High School. Following graduation, she worked as an operator at Chatham Telephone Company for a few years before moving to Escanaba. Marie attended Bay de Noc Community College where she received her associate’s degree in clerical work. She then was employed by UPCAP for many years as a receptionist until her retirement in 2014. Marie was a devoted member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba where she was deeply involved; she sang in Bethany’s Senior Choir, was part of the Senior Club, and was a member of the WELCA. Marie’s career and church were her life and she rarely missed an event at Bethany. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.

Marie E. Zeno is survived by her brother, Ernest Zeno of Mesa, Ariz.; nieces, Sharon (Chuck) Williams of Minn., and Julie (Ron) Pospeck of Hoyte Lakes, Minn.; nephews, Brian (Michelle) Zeno of Duxbury, Ma, and Scott Henry of Aurora, Minn.; and her special friends and caregivers, Mark and Kristine Guenette of Escanaba.

In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her sister, Cecile Henry; brother-in-law, Gene Henry; sister-in-law, Irene Zeno; and nephew, Glen Zeno.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Marie will follow at 4 p.m. in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Van Kley of Bethany Lutheran Church officiating. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services in The Ludington Room in Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Chatham Cemetery.
