Gerald Charles DuBord
ESCANABA — Gerald Charles DuBord, 85, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 19, 2020, at his home of natural causes.
He was born on Dec. 4, 1934, in Escanaba, son of Joseph and Lena (Borden) DuBord. Gerald was raised and attended school in Escanaba. He was married to Audrey (Balthazore) DuBord on Aug. 10, 1957, at St. Thomas Church in Escanaba. She preceded him in death on Nov. 4, 2014.
Gerald served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Ticonderoga during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of Amvets Post 123 and served as post commander.
He was a machine tender at Mead Paper Company for 40 years before his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Mark DuBord of Escanaba, Mike DuBord of Sarasota, Fla., Patrick DuBord of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Dale DuBord of Escanaba; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; siblings, Michael DuBord of Escanaba and Janice Parlato of Escanaba.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Jr.; sister, Judy (DuBord) Lusardi, and brother, Myron DuBord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 4 p.m. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Timothy Ferguson officiating. A meal will immediately follow in the church hall.
The committal service will be held in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba.
