John D. Young

John was born Oct. 20, 1952, in Waukegan, Ill., the son of Jack and Annabell (Morrison) Young. In 1972, he married the love of his life and raised three children in Highwood, Ill. John was a devoted father. He was an avid John Deere tractor fanatic and participated in many tractor pulls. He worked in Highland Park, Ill., for several years then moved back to his home in Escanaba.

John is survived by: one son, John D. (Sally) Young of Escanaba; two daughters, Amy (Patrick) O’Connor of Fox River Grove, Ill., Susan Young of Mundelein, Ill.; one former spouse, Cathy Martinek of Cary, Ill.; one brother, Robert Young of Escanaba; three sisters, Lita (LeMar) Mitchell of Salt Lake City, Utah, Leona (David Beaudoin) Young of Escanaba, Cathy Walkey of Escanaba; seven grandchildren, Cassidy Ebert, John C. Young, Hannah Ebert, Isaiah, Abe and Eli Gonzalez, Henry O’Connor and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loretta Young.

Family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 5, from 2 until 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services will conclude visitation at 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Escanaba.
