Kent R. Richmond

FLORENCE — Kent R. Richmond, 63, of Florence County, Wis. passed away on Oct. 31, 2019, (fittingly on All Saints’ Eve) after a brief stay at ManorCare in Kingsford.

He was born Jan 6, 1956, in Two Rivers, Wis., to Glenn and Carolyn (Sikowitz) Richmond. Kent graduated from Escanaba Area Public High School in 1974 and married his high school sweetheart, Kim Crago in 1977. He received his B.S. degree from NMU in 1979 and moved to this area, where they have spent most of their 42 years of marriage.

Kent enjoyed working for MJ Electric for the past 39 years, retiring in 2017 as operations manager for the utility division. He and Kim thought of Kent’s co-workers as a second family and referred to them as “our MJ Family.”

He enjoyed annual 4-wheeler excursions with his MJ friends, deer hunting (especially with Kris, Russ and Daren), goose hunting in N.D. with Kris, time on Lake Emily with family and friends, time on his hunting land riding his tractor making land improvements, time at their condo in Englewood, Fla., and watching sunsets at Englewood Beach. Kent was a wonderful husband, father, friend, brother, and a true leader. He was not afraid to take a stand for matters in which he believed, and his strong faith enabled him to persevere through many hardships. He always saw the positive side of things, smiling and joking around, making light of a bad situation. He was a very hard worker, giving 100% to everything with which he challenged himself. He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Kent is survived by his wife, Kim (Crago) Richmond; one daughter, Rachael Richmond; two brothers, Kris Richmond (Pam) of Valparaiso, Ind., and Kevin Richmond (JoAnn) of DePere, Wis.; one sister, Karen Guyette of Green Bay, Wis.; his mother-in-law, Darlene Crago; two brothers-in-law, Jeff (GayIa) Crago and Michael Crago; a sister-in-law, Kathy (Crago) Elack (Rich); his MJ Electric Family, whom he loved dearly; special friends, Annette and John Walsh and Karen and Scott Willadsen; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Carolyn Richmond; a sister, Kim Marie (Richmond) Byrd; and his father-in-law, Charles Crago.

Kim and Kent would like to thank the special people (in addition to their family) who helped them through Kent’s pancreatic cancer journey: Dr. Khan, Dr. Ough and Dr. Donnahue at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay; Dr. Morel and staff in Iron Mountain; Dr. Beth Schroeder, Dr. Kristi Olson, PA Karen Steeber and staff in Iron Mountain; along with DCH Hospital and staff and the DCH Home Health nurse, Hannah. Also, thank you to Dr. Kamgar at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, and the compassionate end of life care by the entire staff at ManorCare of Kingsford, along with the OSF Home Health and Hospice crew that came to Kent’s room every day at ManorCare during his brief stay there. You all were huge blessings to Kent and his family, and it is important that your are recognized as the compassionate caregivers you all are. Special thanks go out to Pastor Doug and Elaine Johnson and church family, along with the many friends who have supported us in prayer along the way.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. CST on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Services will follow at noon CST on Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Douglas Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Commonwealth Cemetery.
