Donna Marie Malloy

MANISTIQUE — Lifelong resident of Manistique, Donna Marie Malloy, 71, passed away at her home under the care of hospice with her loving family by her side on Oct. 31, 2019.

Donna was born to Donald and Cecile (LaVigne) Hoholik on Sept. 22, 1948, in Manistique. She was a graduate of Manistique High School. After graduation, she met Daniel H Malloy and they were wed on Feb. 2, 1968, at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Together they raised three children and actively served the community. Later in life, she worked as a nurses aide at Woodland Meadows (from which she retired) and the Schoolcraft Medicare Facility. She also worked at Malloy Insurance and ACE Hoholik Hardware.

Donna was a member of St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Indian Lake Country Club, Haymeadow Country Club, and the Moose Club. She volunteered at St Vincent de Paul. She was an excellent cook, dog-lover, nature-lover, and a connoisseur of coffee. Anything for coffee!! She enjoyed spending time outdoors bird-watching, going to the beach, boat rides, fall color-tours, and planting flowers in the spring. She was an avid traveler visiting many places around the country and internationally. But nothing was more important to Donna than spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored.

She is survived by her loving husband, Daniel; their three children, Chris Malloy of Manistique, Kelli (Erik) Schlaud of Rockford Mich., and Shannon (Arun) Chacko of Chicago Ill.; her three beloved grandchildren, McKenna and Logan Schlaud, and Asha Chacko; her beloved dog, Heidi and four grand-dogs; her brother, Tommy (Julie) Hoholik; brothers-in-law, Patrick (Margaret) Malloy, James (Emery) Malloy; sisters-in-law, Lois Hoholik and Connie Malloy; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law, Bud and Marijene (Barton) Malloy, along with her brother Connie Hoholik and brother-in-law Michael Malloy.

The family would like to thank the Schoolcraft Memorial Homecare and Hospice for their help in keeping Donna comfortable.
