Barbara ‘Jean’ Wallin

ESCANABA — Barbara “Jean” Wallin, 79, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019, at Christian Park Health Care Center with her family by her side.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1940, in Escanaba, daughter of the late Nels and Margaret (Shiner) Ebbesen. Jean grew up on her family farmstead in the Hyde area. She lived in Escanaba most of her life. Jean graduated from Escanaba High School in 1958 and following graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Green Bay and became a beautician. She had her own business for many years.

Jean married Harold Wallin in February of 1961 and together shared a life together for 50 years. She was a proud grandma and loved any time spent with her grandchildren and visiting with family. Jean loved traveling throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Carribean. She had many adventures with Harold.

She had a love of art and pursued her talent of painting and drawing her entire life. Jean enjoyed playing the piano and singing. She also taught her grandchildren to play. She was an active member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and was very strong in her faith. Jean had many lifelong friendships that were very dear to her.

Jean is survived by her two children, Crystal (Ralph) LaCasse and Scott (Cindy) Wallin, as well as five grandchildren, Lyndsay (Michael) Harrell, Brittany Wallin, Nicholas Wallin, Amber LaCasse and Kacy (Dustin) Wiethoff; great-granddaughter, Presley Wiethoff; siblings, Merna (Robert) Jenshak, Nora (Fred) Rice and Nels (Kathy) Ebbesen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Jean will be interred at Gardens of Rest Cemetery with her loving husband, Harold.
