Della Mary Pepin
ESCANABA — Della Mary Pepin, 91, of Escanaba, passed away on Monday Sept. 2, 2019, at North Woods Place Assisted Living in Escanaba with family by her side. She was born on Jan. 30, 1928, in Escanaba, daughter of the late Dona and Irene (Toupin) Marenger. On Sept. 15, 1951, she married the late Lester “Kac” Pepin at St. Thomas Parish.
Della was a baker at Red Owl grocery store until her retirement. She loved being in the outdoors, fishing and just spending time at camp. She was well known for her wonderful birthday and wedding cakes.
Della is survived by two children, Sandy (Ken) Hanson and Barbara (Robert) Hughes; three grandchildren, Karen, Kirk and Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Evan, Jaiden, Annabelle, Trey, Thomas Jr., Lilly and Lilah, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, Raymond, Kenneth, Izzy, PeeWee and Norbert Marenger, and one sister, Nora Sarasin.
Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home (400 S. 10th St., Escanaba, MI 49829). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Fr. Rick Courier officiating and Fr. Darrel Pepin concelebrating. Burial will follow Mass in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
A luncheon will be held in the church parish hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Della Pepin’s name and her family will purchase needed items for the OSF dialysis Center.
