Eleanor ‘Belle’ Mae Swanson

GARDEN — Eleanor “Belle” Mae Swanson, 91, of Garden, Mich., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility.

She was born on June 2, 1928, in Garden, Mich., to William and Alice LaBelle. She attended Garden area schools. She met the love of her life Alfred Oscar Swanson and they were married in Garden on April 10, 1948, where they remained for their years together to raise their five children.

Eleanor worked as a homemaker taking great pride in her family. She was a part of the Garden Historical Society and a member of the church in Fayette. She loved cooking and baking and found enjoyment bowling and playing cards.

She is survived by her sons, Alfred “Buck” (Zandra) Swanson of Garden, Mich., and William (Lori) Swanson of Flint, Mich.; daughters, Brenda (Steve) Tibbetts of Fayette, Mich., and Rhonda (Ed) Kulis of Flushing, Mich.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Eleanor’s husband, Alfred, precedes her in death, along with their daughter, Robin.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Garden Christian Fellowship Church of Garden, Mich., from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
