Daniel John Roddy

MANISTIQUE — Daniel John Roddy, 89, of Manistique, passed away on Aug. 11, 2019, at the Schoolcraft County Medical Care Facility.

He was born on Sept. 18, 1929, in Manistique, the son of the late Daniel A. Roddy and Katherine G. Roddy. On Aug. 18, 1955, in Nahma, he married the former Jean Elizabeth Rogers, who survives. Together, they shared 64 years of memories.

Dan attended Manistique Area Schools and was a graduate of Manistique High School. After graduation, Dan served in the United States Air Force. After returning from service, Dan started working in the grocery business, and finally retired as the assistant manager at Nordens Foodland of Manistique.

Dan was a member of Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Parrish in Manistique. He was a lifetime member of Schoolcraft County VFW, and enjoyed playing pool on pool leagues, camping, fishing and horseshoes and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.

Surviving are his wife, Jean E. Roddy of Manistique; his son, Daniel (Teri} Roddy of Manistique; daughters, Rose (Dave Bloomberg) of Rapid River, Mich., and Jean (Jerry) Rochefort of Long Beach, MS; brother, James Bellville of Livonia Mich.; sister, Kay Bellville of New Mexico; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by His parents and his son, William Joseph Roddy

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Daniel’s memory may be sent to Schoolcraft County Medical Care Facility Activity Fund.

Private services were held at the convenience of the family.
