Mabel I. Sharkey

She was born in Escanaba on Nov. 26, 1924, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Swille) Sharkey.

Mabel graduated from Harris High School in 1942 and from Bay College with her LPN degree in 1967.

Mabel worked for Dr. G. Benson M.D. from 1947-1955 and then at St. Francis Hospital from 1955 to 1972. She later was employed with Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers from 1972 until her retirement in 1988.

Mabel really enjoyed gardening, sewing and doing many kinds of crafts. She was very clever at creating beautiful things.

She was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church in Escanaba.

She is survived by brother Arlis (Kate) Sharkey of Crivitz, Wis., many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Beatrice, Clarence, Walter and Joyce.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 24, from 10 to 11 a.m. Central Time at St. Mary Catholic Church, 808 Henriette Ave., Crivitz, Wis. 54114. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fred Sserugga officiating.

Burial will take place in Bark River Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Sharkey family.
