Jeanette M. Towns

Jeanette was born in Escanaba on April 4, 1950, daughter of Carl and Viola Gerdeen. At the age of 7, she was lovingly adopted by Keith and Leona Towns. She was a life-long resident of the area until she moved to Green Bay for health reasons and to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.

She graduated from Gladstone High School and attended cosmetology and nursing school.

Jeanette loved to cook, sew and go for joy rides. She enjoyed going to the casino to gamble and dance. Her greatest joy was spending time with her daughter Jennifer and her grand babies. She cherished playing with them and watching them grow.

Among survivors is her daughter, Jennifer Gerdeen; grandchildren, Wesley Gerdeen, Beau Phillips, and baby Phillips arriving in August; Jeanette’s long-time companion, Gary Christenson; siblings, Carol Coyle, Keith Gerdeen and Bob Gerdeen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Kevin, Lorraine and Doug.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, from 9 to 11 a.m. EST at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Major Alex Norton officiating. The burial will be immediately after the service in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
