James L. Revis

Jim was born in Virginia, Ill., on Jan. 2, 1932, son of Emmitt and Audrey (Edwards) Revis.

In 1949, Jim joined the Army at age 17. He was a Korean War vet, stationed among places, Japan and Alaska. He was a paratrooper/radio operator of the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team. On March 23, 1951, Jim was part of Operation Tomahawk South of Munsan-ni, Korea. They cut off retreating enemy units. He was proud to be a part of the 187th RCT Team known as Headquarters Company, 1st battalion, Rakkasans.

On Dec. 21, 1951, Jim married the love of his life, Annamae Alice Peacock, at Rapid River Baptist Church. They were married for 63 years until Ann’s death on Dec. 27, 2014.

He lived a full and adventurous life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, turtle trapping and numerous hobbies. He had many jobs throughout his life including tree trimming (lumberjack), butcher, dam operator at San Dimas Dam in ­California and most recently self-employed with his own company, J.&A. Plastics. We are proud of the beautiful key chains, jewelry, lamps and other ­products he made and sold. He will be greatly missed.

Among survivors are his children, James “David” (Cindy) Revis of Escanaba, Carrie Spriks of Rapid River, Anita Therrian of Auburn Hills, Mich., and Clinton (Renate) Revis of Germany; siblings, Rosella (Patrick) Yokeum of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Theodore (Ruby) Revis of Virginia, Ill.; 13 ­grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Clayton; siblings, Emmitt Revis, Edward Revis, Noretta Stevens and Celia Webber and grandson, Ronnie Ray Therrian.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, at Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba, from 1 to 3 p.m. The Delta County Veteran Council and Army Honor Guard will have military honors at 3 p.m.

Jim and Ann will be laid to rest together in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Mich. at a later date.
