Harvey Joseph Beauchamp

GLADSTONE — Harvey Joseph Beauchamp, 90, of Gladstone, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at his home. He was born on June 8, 1929, on the family farm in Wilson in Harris Township in Menominee County, the son of Edward and Saundry (Borden) Beauchamp. Harvey attended school in Wilson and was a 1947 graduate of Bark River High School. Following graduation, he worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the U.S. Army on Jan. 2, 1951. Harvey served during the Korean War in both Germany and Maine until he was honorably discharged on Dec. 6, 1952. After returning from the service, Harvey worked as a machinist in Milwaukee and later moved back to Wilson to work on the family farm. He married the former Dorothy Barbeau on April 10, 1954, and she preceded him in death. He later married the former Grace Betters Huston on April 3, 1982, in Las Vegas, Nev., and she also preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2015. Harvey was employed at Harnischfeger Corporation for 30 years until his retirement. He was a long-time member of All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone, was a member of the VFW, and the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Harvey was an avid hunter — he shot a 10-point deer that ended up in the record book in Boone and Crockett. He loved the outdoors, especially going to his camp in Wilson, and working in his garden.

Harvey J. Beauchamp is survived by four sons, Keith (Bernadette) Beauchamp of Escanaba, Glen (Julie) Beauchamp of Green Bay, Wis., Harvey Beauchamp, Jr. of Tucson, Ariz., and Jeff Beauchamp of Tucson, Ariz.; three stepchildren, James (Corrine) Huston of Algoma, WI, Peggy (Steven) Porath of Gladstone, and Susan Huston of Algoma, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Keith Beauchamp, Jr., Heidi Beauchamp, Megan Beauchamp, Kelsey Beauchamp, Harvey Beauchamp III, Clay Beauchamp, and Cara Beauchamp; 15 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Trisha Beauchamp, and Amy Beauchamp; many step-great-grandchildren; brother, Gerald Beauchamp of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Olive Bowman of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wives, Harvey was preceded in death by his brothers, Leo Beauchamp, Ervin Beauchamp and Clayton Beauchamp; and sisters, Joyce Asti, Elaine Johnson, and Gladys Klein.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Harvey will follow at 2 p.m. Friday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Mike LeBeau officiating. Graveside military honors will immediately follow the services at Gardens of Rest Cemetery. Snacks and refreshments will be served during the time of visitation.
