Beverly June Rector

GWINN, Mich. — Beverly June Rector, 92, of 142 Elm St., Gwinn, Mich., passed away Saturday morning, July 27, 2019, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone. She was born on April 9, 1927, in Niagara, Wis., the daughter of Carl and Edna (Spanton) Langager. Beverly was raised in Quinnesec, Mich., and was a graduate of Kingsford High School. The former Beverly Langager married Hartley H. Rector, Jr. on Dec. 1, 1945, in Quinnesec, Mich., and he preceded her in death on Aug. 16, 2016. Together, the couple shared nearly 72 years of marriage and raised two children. They lived in Escanaba until 1958 when a position opened up at KI Sawyer Air Force Base for Hartley as a housing manager. They lived in Gwinn until they relocated back to Escanaba in 1975. Beverly was employed by Advanced TV and Appliance Company in the sales department until her retirement in 1992. A few years later in 1998, Beverly and Hartley moved to Garth Point on Lake Michigan in Rapid River where they resided half of the year and the other half wintering in Arizona. She was strong in her Methodist faith, enjoyed being around people, gardening, and loved her cats dearly.

Beverly June Rector is survived by son, Tim (Paula) Rector of Gwinn, Mich.; daughter, Pat (Tony) Smith of Iron Mountain, Mich.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Flath Rivest of Gladstone, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edna Langager; husband, Hartley H. Rector Jr; one great-grandchild; twin sister, Betty Rasmussen; and sister, Ardis Zoubi.

Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 31, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Beverly will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Frankenstein officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services in Gardens of Rest Cemetery. A luncheon will be served at the conclusion of the services.
