Thomas C. ‘Tom’ Perryman
POWERS — Thomas C. “Tom” Perryman, 74, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at OSF St. Francis Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born on June 5, 1944, to Charles and Emma (Girard) Perryman in Escanaba. Tom attended school in Escanaba before moving to Washington State. While there, he worked at the county jail and as a gravel truck driver. He was a volunteer firefighter and volunteered for Search and Rescue. He always enjoyed playing Santa every year for the local fire department in Washington State.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 until his honorable discharge.
Tom married the former Annette Walker in 1984. She preceded him in death.
After moving back to Michigan, he worked for the Skerbeck Carnival and Union Pacific Railroad. He was a volunteer for the UP 200 sled dog race until an accident left him unable to work.
He had been a resident of Pinecrest Medical Care Facility since 2002. He was well liked there by the staff and residents, and will be missed.
He was an avid Seahawks fan and enjoyed teasing the Packer fans when the Seahawks beat them. He loved fishing and hunting. The Wheeling Sportsmen allowed him the opportunity to hunt, even though he was in a wheelchair. One of his proudest moments was when he bagged an eight-point buck last fall.
Tom is survived by his children, Billie Ann Perryman, Doug White Jr., Doris “Squeak” Sisk and Kevin Walker, all of Washington State; three grandchildren, Ashley, Jade and Austin; sister, Dolly (Ron) Dufour of Escanaba; one brother, Howard (June) Perryman of Washington State; two sisters-in-law, Helga (Jim) Perryman of Escanaba and Charlotte (Francis) Perryman of Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Joann Ullsperger.
In addition to his parents and wife, Annette, he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Skip, Robert and Max; and sisters, Carol McMahon, Billie Ann Makosky and Marilyn McGinnis.
A memorial gathering will take place later in the summer.
Burial will be in the West Ford River Cemetery.
