Michael L. Creten

GLADSTONE, Mich. — Michael L. Creten, 90, of Gladstone, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Monday, May 27, 2019, at the Bishop Noa Home.

Mike was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Gladstone, Mich., the son of Paul and Lenore (VanDonsel) Creten. He graduated from Gladstone high school in 1947. After graduation Mike had a few different jobs before being drafted and serving in the Korean War.

Mike was united in marriage to the former Joyce Lindahl on Nov. 29, 1952, and they shared 67 years of marriage and raised their son and daughter.

Mike worked for the Soo Line Railroad for 16 years before leaving to join Mead Paper retiring in 1991.

Mike enjoyed many years of camping with his family and later in life with the Good Sams Club. He also enjoyed the Green Bay Packers and spending special times with his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Mike is survived by: son, Chris Creten of Gladstone, Mich.; daughter, Ann (Denis) Severinsen of Escanaba, Mich.; brother, Dan (Kathy) Creten of Escanaba, Mich.; two grandchildren, Kayla (Dan) Verbeek of Gladstone, Mich., and Melissa (James) Sankovitch of Bark River, Mich.; three:great-grandchildren, Emma, Griffyn Verbeek, and Erick Sankovitch; and many nieces and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Phil Creten.

Family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military honors will be presented at 3:15 p.m. by the Gladstone American Legion Post 71. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Bishop Noa Home.
