David Lee Pelletier

MANISTIQUE — David Lee Pelletier, 8l, passed away April 10, 2019, at the Schoolcraft Medical Care Facility in Manistique, Mich.

He was born May 13, 1937, to Howard and Beatrice Pelletier. David was a Cooks High School graduate and graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1959. He went on to marry Kay Lang on July 25, 1959, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fayette, and would be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this July. They were very blessed with seven children.

David was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He is most known for having taught and coached in the Garden Area Schools for 29 years and during these years, had a very successful coaching career. In his final years of teaching, he was employed by Bay Community College for seven years as a wood harvest instructor. After early retirement from teaching, he spent many years following his true passion of land development and building log homes. David always had a love of the woods and taking his red truck for rides down Little Harbor Road.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; his three sons, Gregory (Joedy) Pelletier, Steven (Kelly) Pelletier, and David (Annie) Pelletier; four daughters, Lisa (Phillip) Groleau, Jodie (William) Goebel, Lynn (Scott) McPhee, and Jill (Calvin T.) Richard; 20 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, John Pelletier; sisters, Joyce LaTulip, Barbara (Garland) LaVigne, Sally (David) LeHew, and Marcia (John) Silta; brothers-in-law, Gary Lang and Thomas (Pam) Lang; as well as several nieces and nephews.

David is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Tatrow; sister-in-law, Nancy Lang; brothers-in-law, Dale LaTulip and Gerald Tatrow; mother and father-in-law, Henry and Ruth Lang; and his granddaughter, Emily McPhee.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden, Mich. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow with Rev. Fr. John Essel officiating.
