WELLS — Ruby M. Peterson, 97, of Wells, passed away Thursday morning, March 7, at Christian Park Center.

She was born on July 27, 1921, in Nahma, daughter of Herman and Daisy (Boursaw) Bramer. Ruby was raised in Nahma and graduated from F.W. Good High School. She attended Loyola University to earn her degree in nursing.

On Oct. 13, 1945, Ruby married Edwin Peterson in Nahma. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2013.

Ruby worked as a registered nurse at the old St. Francis Hospital. She later went to work for Dr. Ryde and retired from Dr. McInerney’s office in 1986.

She enjoyed fishing, going to camp, and taking rides with her son-in-law. Ruby could always be found volunteering in her community as much as she could and often would feed and visit with residents at the nursing home.

Ruby was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary since 1969 and the American Legion Auxiliary since 1986.

She is survived by her three children, Christine (Cliff) Coppock and Timothy “Mark” Peterson, both of Wells, and Michael (Mary) Peterson of Ellsworth, Mich.; grandchildren, Tina (Jeff) Heiden, Tim (Kerri) Coppock, Nikki (Jon) Creten, Tracey (Frank) Sliva, Jeremy (Peggy) Peterson, Angela (Rob) Reeves, Melissa (Travis) Marti, Phillip (Jessica) Peterson, Elizabeth (Nate) Derks and Nathan (Riley) Peterson; 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edwin, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Llewellyn (Melba) Bramer, Roland (Frances) Bramer and Kelvin Bramer; and sisters, Marvel Bramer, Beaulah (Tom) Elegeert and Violet (Henry) Sargent.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 13, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home, 302 S. 13th St., Escanaba. The Eagles Auxiliary will have a memorial service at 2 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Wells with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
