Mary J. Hatch
LECANTO, Fla. — Mary J. Hatch, 63, Inverness, Florida, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019 at the Vistas In-Patient Hospice Health Care Unit in Lecanto, Florida due to a lengthy illness. She was born on May 13, 1955, in Escanaba, Mich., the daughter of Bernard, Sr. and Eleanor (Garrett) Ammel. Mary graduated from Escanaba High School in 1973. She went on to graduate from Michigan State University, and later moved to Chicago, Ill.
The former Mary Ammel married Kenneth Hatch on Sept. 23, 1978, in Escanaba, Mich. Mary lived in Roselle, Ill., for many years working for several companies as a director of insurance benefits. Mary has lived in Florida for the last four years where she had always dreamed of spending her retirement.
Mary J. Hatch is survived by her son, Gregory Hatch, Chicago, Ill.; brothers, Bernard, Jr. (Kay), Daniel (Margaret), Thomas (Marge), Robert (Peggy), Stephen (Brenda), and sister, Patricia Ammel, all of Escanaba, Mich. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she also loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
We give a special thank you to Vistas Hospice of Lecanto, Fla ., and good friend Bonnie Lancour, who helped care for Mary during her illness.
According to Mary’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
