Dorothy Marie (Waeghe) Srock

GLADSTONE — Dorothy Marie (Waeghe) Srock, 85, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy, the daughter of Leo and Mary (Jardis) Waeghe, was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Gladstone. She was raised in Gladstone and graduated from Gladstone High School in 1951. Dorothy and Thomas Srock were married at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone on May 12, 1956. Tom preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2007.

Dorothy worked for Jewel Tea Company until 1957, and later worked for Great Lakes First Federal Credit Union until she retired in 1986.

Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock throughout her adult life. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, cooking and baking, sewing, lunching with her friends, and was an avid reader.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Steve (Lorraine) Srock of Flat Rock, Mich., and four daughters, Cindy Srock of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Lori (Doug) Sundlof of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Margie (Mike) McFarland of Millersville, Md. and Jean (Kerry) Fisher of North Salt Lake, Utah. Dorothy is also survived by three brothers, Marvin (Patt) Waeghe of Green Bay, Wis., Jim (Joanne) Waeghe of Gladstone and John (Karen) Waeghe of Green Bay, Wis., and one sister, Maryann (Mark) Meunier of Madison, Wis. Dorothy is also survived by 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Tom, Dorothy is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in- law, Leo and Geri Waeghe (Marengo, Ill.).

Visitation will be on Friday, March 15, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful and supportive caregivers at OSF Hospital.
