Ivonette Laverne Robere

GARDEN — Ivonette Laverne Robere, 95, of Garden, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2018 at UP Health Systems in Marquette, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on July 2, 1923 in Cooks, the daughter of Garland and Merilda (Popour) Wolfe. She attended and graduated from Cooks High School the class of 1941.

On Aug. 2, 1941 she married Francis LaVigne in Cooks, and together they raised three children in Isabella. Francis preceded her in death on June 1, 1969. She later met and married Isaac Robere in March of 1975. He also preceded her death on Sept. 12, 1999.

She worked as a waitress for many years until she bought The Garden House and became the owner and operator.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Garden, the Manistique Senior Center and the Garden Historical Society. She was very active member of Women of the Moose. Ivy was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan, she loved to read and play cards with family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son, Garland (Barbara) LaVigne of Garden Corners; daughters, Linda (John) Thill of Garden Corners, Bonnie (Barry) Rochefort of Garden; stepdaughters, Violet (Carl) Sundling of Manistique, Joyce (George) Leckson of Garden, Zita Beck of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepson, John (Sharon) Robere of Manistique; sisters, Carol Sobieski of Cooks, Donna Swayer of Cooks and Frances Thomas of Manistique.

She is preceded in death by infant daughter, Gail Ann LaVigne; brothers, Eldred and Aldin Wolfe; sister, Kathleen Rochefort.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, at St. John the Baptist Church in Garden.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Father John Essel officiating.

Burial will be held in the spring at Moss Lake Cemetery Isabella.
