Madelyn ‘Midge’ Anderson

NORWALK, Iowa — Madelyn “Midge” Anderson, 91, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Des Moines, Iowa, with inurnment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tonini Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 8, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m

Madelyn Mae Henriksen was born on July 3, 1927, in Escanaba, she was the daughter of Edwin and Marion (Arnold) Henriksen. Madelyn attended St Joseph High School in Escanaba School District graduating with the class of 1944. On July 3, 1948, she was united in marriage to Raymond Howard Anderson in Escanaba, Michigan. She had worked at Principal Financial in Des Moines for 20 years. In Midge’s younger years she belonged to a bowling league, she enjoyed crocheting and always her yearly trip to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jan (John) Jansen, Tom (Cindy) Anderson, Scott (Mitzie) Anderson and Carol (John) Crum; grandchildren, Debbie Steenhoek, Travis Anderson, Erika Bohon, Erin Janes, Trevor Anderson, Amanda Anderson, Kiersten Crum, and Connor Crum; great-grandchildren, Anaelise Steenhoek, Brayden Steenhoek, and Caroline Bohon; siblings, Beverly Sharkey, Marianne Dufour, Karen (Bill) Cassi, Marty (Jerre) Henriksen, Dale (Andrea) Henriksen; sister-in-law, Ann Henriksen and many nieces and nephews.

In death Midge rejoins her parents, husband Raymond, son, Doug Anderson and granddaughter, Cindy Anderson, daughter-in-law, Diane Anderson, and brothers, Arnold and Edward Henriksen, brother-in-law, Clem Sharkey and Robert Dufour, sister-in-law, Vivian Henriksen.
