Patricia Joanne ‘Pat’ Boyington
GLADSTONE, Mich. — Patricia Joanne “Pat” Boyington, 80, of Gladstone, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, after a brief illness at Christian Park Center in Escanaba.
Pat was born July 4, 1938, in Escanaba, Mich., the daughter of Anthony and Pearl (Duncan) Roschyk. She lived in Wilson until moving to Racine, Wis., at the age of 5. After high school, she worked for Johnson Wax and Western Printing.
She was united in marriage on April 26, 1958, to the love of her life, Boyd Boyington. With now two children in tow they moved to Escanaba and made their home. Pat worked for Kmart for 20 years, then USDA Forest Service, and UPCAP. Later, she joined the Senior Companion Program where she earned many awards and recognitions for her volunteer efforts. Pat also volunteered at Lakeview Assisted Living.
Pat was an accomplished accordion player who played with the “Polka King” Frankie Yankovic in concert at the American Legion in Racine, Wis. She also loved playing bingo, going on casino trips, camping, and traveling. Pat was a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone.
Pat is survived by: daughter, Donna (Jim) Courchaine of Gladstone, Mich.; grandchildren, Tricia (Rex) Johnson of Perryville, Md., Joseph Soltis of Lansing, Mich.; sisters, Debbie (late Charles) Nordquist of Escanaba, Mich., Sandra McNamee of Fredrick, Md.; brother-in-law, Tom (Sylvia) Boyington of Pensacola, Fla.; sister-in-law, Linda Boyington of Pensacola, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She will be sadly missed, leaving a hole in our hearts to be filled with many of the good memories of her.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband, and a son, Anthony “Tony” Boyington.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 5, from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services for Pat are scheduled for noon at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. Fr. Jamie Ziminski officiating. Pat will be laid to rest in Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, Mich. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Boyington family.
