Gail Ann Guertin

MANISTIQUE — Gail Ann Guertin, 82, of Manistique, passed away on Aug. 28, 2018, at the OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.

She was born July 20, 1936, in Duluth, Minn., the daughter of George and Marguerite (Vaughn) Stevenson.

As a child, Gail arrived in Manistique in the spring of 1942 when her father was transferred to the Upper Peninsula, by the Marshall-Wells Co. of Duluth, Minn.

She attended Manistique area schools, and graduated with the Class of 1954.

Gail was a member of St. Frances de Sales Parish. Over the years she did much volunteering in both the school and the church.

She had been employed by St. Francis de Sales School as bookkeeper, and by the Michigan State Police (Post 84), in Manistique, as secretary. She was the FIRST secretary hired by Post 84.

Gail enjoyed creating greeting cards for friends and family; knitting, crocheting, cross stitch, and playing cards with the Heritage House card group.

She is survived by five children, John M. Guertin of Indianapolis, Ind.; Laurie (Patrick) Priniski of Rochester, Minn., Thomas Guertin of Wetmore, Mich., James Guertin of Marysville, Mich. and Joseph Guertin of Escanaba; grandchildren, Thomas J. Guertin of San Diego, Calif., Sarah Priniski-McDonald of Rochester, Minn., Amanda Priniski of Rochester, Minn., Nichole Guertin of Marine City, Mich. and Ashley Guertin of Marine City, Mich.; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gail is preceded in death by her parents, George and Marguerite Stevenson.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Sept. 4, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon at the church with Father Ben Paris officiating. Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery at Manistique. A luncheon will follow in the parish center.
