Victoria (Vicky) LaFave Couillard

SURPRISE, Ariz. — Victoria (Vicky) LaFave Couillard, 65, formerly of Gladstone, passed away Dec. 5, 2017 at An Enchanted Assisted Living group home in Surprise, Ariz. Vicky was born Dec. 29, 1951 in Escanaba, the daughter of Patrick and Dorothy (King) LaFave.

Vicky was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Darrell “Joe” Couillard and they made their home in Gladstone and Brampton, then Memphis, Tenn. before finally settling in Flagstaff, Ariz. Vicky worked at Coconino County in the human resource department prior to retirement. Vicky had an incredible knack for decorating and anywhere she lived was homey and comfortable. Her outgoing and caring personality led to her ability to make friends quickly with many special friendships that lasted her lifetime. She was an amazing woman with a remarkable attitude given the severity of her illness. Vicky will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph (Laura) Couillard, of Friendswood, Texas, and Jeremy (Gina) Couillard, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; brothers, Patrick (Linda) LaFave, of Surprise, Ariz., and Michael (Diane) LaFave, of Surprise, Ariz.; sisters, Mary LaFave and Barbara Boor, of Sun City, Ariz., Tina (Clint) Syers, of Gladstone, and Theresa LaFave (Steve Kreutzberg), of Surprise, Ariz.; grandchildren, Colin, Kailey, and Taylor, plus many relatives and special friends too numerous to name.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents Patrick and Dorothy LaFave, her husband Joe Couillard, her sister Laura (LaFave) Lupe, and her beloved grandson Chance Couillard.

Vicky’s family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Services celebrating the life of Victoria Couillard will follow at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be served during visitation and following services. She will be inurned in a niche at Gardens of Rest Memorial Park in Wells.

Memorial donations in honor of Victoria may be made to The Arthritis Foundation at arthritis.org. In addition, the family will be conducting a fundraiser through the Arthritis Foundation on Facebook in memory of Vicky.
