Gerald ‘Butch’ L. McQuisten

ESCANABA — Gerald “Butch” L. McQuisten, 81, of Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center.

Butch, son of Albert and Pearl (Taylor) McQuisten, was born on May 13, 1936, in Munising.

Gerald proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

He retired from Chrysler Corporation/General Motors after many years of employment.

In his spare time, Butch loved being out in the country fishing, camping and hunting. He especially loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He sured loved his Westerns!

In 1960, he married the love of his life, Edna Hubbard who preceded him in death on Sept. 20, 2013.

Survivors include his stepchildren, Jackie Littiken of Columbus, Ind., and Keith (Gail) Ritchie of Burlington, Wis.; grandchildren, Doug, Claude, Rudy, Cindy (Chris), Sean, Raini (Blake), and Casey; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Floyd, Robert, Jack and Richard Jr., as well as sisters Beverly and Mildred Fritz; stepchildren, Diane Lasik and Dean Bruso; and granddaughter, Tammy.

Gerald was a good hard-working man and wonderful father and a very loved grandfather.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28, from noon to 12:45 p.m. at the Gardens of Rest Cemetery Chapel.

The Delta County Veterans Council will have military honors at 12:45 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Louis Hague officiating.

Entombment will be in the Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the McQuisten family.
