ESCANABA — Robert Milton Monson, age 82, of 330 North 14th. Street in Escanaba passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba. He was born Aug. 9, 1935 in Escanaba and was the son of Milton and Ethel (Anderson) Monson. Bob grew up in Escanaba and played football and basketball at Escanaba High School graduating in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army over in Japan from March 1, 1955 until he was honorably discharged on Feb. 9, 1957. Bob attended and graduated from California State University, Fullerton. He did some substitute teaching in California until he moved back to Escanaba. He was employed as a plumber for Beck Plumbing and Heating, Berger and King Plumbing and Heating and worked out of the Plumber’s Union Hall. Bob later moved back to California until his retirement. In 1995 he moved back to Escanaba. He was a former member of the Escanaba Country Club and Highland Golf Club and he enjoyed golfing, hunting, and baseball. Robert Milton Monson is survived by daughter, Vicki (Shawn) Clyde of Wyoming; son, Chris Monson of Calif.; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Clinton Monson of Escanaba; two sisters, Sandra (Carl) Shelby of Indiana and Nancy Brown of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Steward Monson and Terry Monson and sisters Marilyn Christensen and Mary Monson.
