Rita Ann ‘Reetz’ Gasparick

BARK RIVER — Rita Ann “Reetz” Gasparick, 58, of Bark River, passed away unexpectedly on March 15, 2018, while on vacation in Mexico.

Rita was born on March 23, 1959, in Escanaba, Mich., daughter of the late Theodore and Grace (LaBelle) Hancheck.

After high school she started at Hardee’s in July 1977, where she had spent 40 and a half years.

On Oct. 15, 1977, Rita married her soulmate, Doug Gasparick, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Spalding. Together they adopted their first child, Amy, and shortly after were blessed with their second daughter, Amanda.

Reetz loved to go to camp and watch the deer with her best friend and husband. She loved sitting in bed at night eating key lime pie or cheesecake while watching the “The Young and The Restless” and everyone knows how much she loved to cook! Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her “grandbabies.” Grandma Wee Wee loved having sleepovers, cooking/baking and singing songs like “cheeseburger and fries and cherry pies.”

Rita is survived by her husband, Doug; daughters, Amy (Tony) Martin and Amanda (Troy) Veraghen; grandbabies, Vincent, Timothy, Arianna, Lucas, Maizy, Tony, Avery and Silas.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Grace Hancheck; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Alida Gasparick; sisters-in-law, Peggy Gasparick and Barbara Gasparick; niece, Natalie Smith and nephew, Ben Gasparick.

The family will receive friends and family at the Crawford Funeral Chapel, 1236 Old Hwy 2 & 41, in Bark River, on Monday, March 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. EST with parish prayers at 7 p.m. The visitation will also continue on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. EST at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. Darryl Pepin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gasparick family. A memorial in Rita’s name will be established at a later date.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the surrounding community for their warm thoughts and prayers throughout this difficult time.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Gasparick family.
