Elaine L. Anderson

Elaine was born in Escanaba on Aug. 29, 1927, daughter of John and Grace (Cossette) Martell. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. She spent 87 years in Escanaba before relocating to Kalamazoo.

On July 29, 1947, Elaine married George R. Anderson in Escanaba. Together they celebrated 47 years of marriage and raised four children.

She worked at Gross Drug Store for 30 years.

Elaine was a member of St. Joseph Parish for 70 years.

Elaine loved to read. She also enjoyed knitting, going for walks and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elaine is survived by her children, ­Patricia (Richard) Kramb, Mary Lynn (Jack) Sweeney, Kathryn Hess and David (Sherry) Anderson; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Minicucci; two nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; brother, Jack Martell; granddaughter, Olivia Cohen, and nephew, Tim Minicucci.

Graveside services will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery at a later time.
