Lyle F. Steede

SHINGLETON — Lyle F. Steede, 76, of Shingleton and formerly of Escanaba, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, under the care of North Woods Home Hospice, following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 11, 1941, in Escanaba, Mich., to the late Franklin and Rose (Hubert) Steede. Lyle graduated from Escanaba High School then entered into the United States Army. Lyle was a mechanic in the Army, and was stationed in Germany and Korea. After his time was done with the Army, Lyle reenlisted with National Guard to continue serving his country. Lyle moved to Shingleton in 1988 and worked for Timber Products. Lyle enjoyed going for walks, learning about and serving the Lord, and was an active and dedicated member of the Alger County Veterans Honor Guard.

He is survived by his daughter, Sheila (Jason) Pierce of Frederick, Okla.; grandchildren, Michele, Kaden, Conner, Rachel, and Gail; great-grandchildren, Leon, Cyrus, and Serenna; sisters, Gail Welters, Rosaline (Red) Henderson, Sister Marcus Steede, Claire Ann (Terry) Butler, and Fran Ottinger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, son, William John Steede; brother, Mark Steede; and brother-in-law, Ron Welters.

Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 9, at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising from 1 until 3 p.m. Lee Maki will conduct Lyle’s funeral at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Veterans Section at Maple Grove Cemetery in Munising in the spring, where the American Legion and Vietnam Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors.
