OMRO, Wis. — David R. Guay, “Gator” 61, of Omro, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Neenah. Dave was born in Escanaba, Mich., on June 25, 1956, the son of Francis L. and Geraldine E. Bink Guay. He married Gail VanOudenhoven on June 18, 1983, in St Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church in Neenah. Dave received a journeyman tool & die engineering degree and was employed as a CNC programmer at Mid Valley Industries. Over the years, Gator was a volunteer firefighter at many different village and township fire departments. Dave was Catholic by faith. He loved all sports, but his passion was playing basketball. He was a family man. Dave and Gail would drive thousands of miles to watch their daughters play college ball. He always cherished time with his grandchildren. Dave was married to his sweetheart Gail for 34 years. Dave had a contagious smile and loving heart. He was always there to lend a helping hand.

Dave is survived by his wife Gail Guay, of Omro; two daughters, Chelsey (Corey Giordana) Guay of Kaukauna, Jenna (Tom) Fendryk of Waukesha; three grandchildren, Cole, Isla and Brock; his mother, Geraldine E. Guay; three brothers, Terry (Kathy) Guay of Florida, Charles (Sally) Guay of Florida, Anthony (Leenette) Guay of Appleton; and sister, Mary (John) Anthony of Escanaba, Mich. Dave is further survived by dog, Harley, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis L. Guay, and father-in-law, Eugene W. VanOudenhoven.

A Christian Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 11 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church (830 S. Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh) with the Rev. Matthew Rappl officiating.

Family and friends may visit at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh) on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of services.

A memorial is being established for cancer research.
