Dorothy V. (Williams) Wells-Boye

ESCANABA — Dorothy V. (Williams) Wells-Boye, 93, of 1330 N. 16th St., Escanaba, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at her home after a long illness with family by her side. She was born on Feb. 7, 1924, in Daggett, Mich., the daughter of Phillip and Pearl Williams. Dorothy’s parents died at a young age and she was left to care for several younger siblings at age 16. On Nov. 13, 1949, the former Dorothy Williams married Walter E. Wells Sr. and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1974. Together, the couple shared 25 years of marriage and raised five children. A few years later, Dorothy married Walter Boye, and he also preceded her in death. Dorothy took great pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family. She loved lilacs, cooking, baking, and the sun on her face. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is survived by children, Walter Wells Jr. of Powers, Darlene (Robert) Hallinen of Anchorage, Alaska, Gloria (Carl) Williams of Bark River, and Cheryl Wells of Escanaba; son-in-law, Rodney Williams of Bark River; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Williams of Cedar River; sisters, Ann Crawford of Stephenson, and Phyllis Hultman of Marinette; sister-in-law, Betty Williams of Hannahville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Wells Sr.; second husband, Walter Boye; daughter, Pamela Williams; four brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST Saturday, Jan. 6, at Lakeside Christian Church, 2300 S. 21st St. in Escanaba.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Dorothy will follow at 12 p.m. EST Saturday with Pastor Mark Highum officiating.

A luncheon will be served afterward at the church. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in the spring of the year. A heartfelt thank you to the OSF Hospice staff and nurses (Katie and Candace) for all of the wonderful care given to Dorothy and compassion shown to the family.
